About the Accademia Gallery
The Accademia Gallery in Florence, Italy, with its roots back to the 18th century, is a place with a considerable rich and plentiful story. At first, it was an art academy where a talented or sophisticated person or group was to be intellectually, socially and morally advanced. In 1784, the grand duke Pietro Leopoldo founded the gallery to highlight the large collection, which originated as a display of the artworks of religious institutions in Florentine and the artwork of well-known Florentine artists.
The Florentine gallery welcomes Michelangelo’s David as the most important artwork in Florentine history, with the masterpiece first moved there in 1873 to preserve it from the elements and vandals. It has since been this masterpiece the center of the Souffldea Gallery, drawing in crowds from far and wide to take a look at it.
Besides the famous David of Michelangelo, the gallery is home to an impressive Renaissance art collection. These include paintings and works of artists like Sandro Botticelli, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Paolo Uccello The Accademia still holds a special place in the heart of Florence as a note-worthy conservation facility and provides the ravished visitors with a chance to confront the art of the city´s past through personal experience.
Now however, Accademia Gallery has been converted into a memorial of the accent of Florence in the art world as each the visitor of gallery enjoys the eventful journey through history and artistic splendor.
