Walking remains the most common method to reach the museum from within the city center. The Accademia Gallery sits at Via Ricasoli 58/60, approximately 500 meters from the Duomo. Pedestrians follow the signs toward Piazza San Marco or the University of Florence to locate the entrance.

This route takes visitors through narrow streets and pedestrian zones where vehicle traffic is limited. Most people complete the walk from the Piazza della Signoria in roughly 10 to 15 minutes. This approach allows visitors to navigate the historic district directly without waiting for public transport schedules or navigating vehicle restrictions.

The local bus network, operated by Autolinee Toscane, provides several routes that stop near the museum. Visitors board lines 1, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 25, 31, 52, and 54 to reach the Piazza San Marco station. This station sits approximately 200 meters from the gallery entrance.

Using the bus system facilitates access for those staying in districts outside the central pedestrian area. Signs at the San Marco stop guide visitors toward Via Ricasoli to complete the final segment of the journey.

Travelers arriving from other cities typically enter Florence at the Santa Maria Novella (SMN) railway station. The station serves as the primary hub for regional and high-speed trains.

From the terminal, visitors walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach the Accademia Gallery, a journey that takes about 15 minutes. Alternatively, the station provides access to several bus lines that stop at Piazza San Marco.

Visitors follow the exit signs toward the city center and proceed along Via Panzani and Via de' Cerretani toward the Duomo before turning toward the museum. This connection makes the gallery accessible to those traveling from Rome, Milan, or Pisa.

Drivers face restrictions when entering the center of Florence due to the Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL), which prohibits unauthorized vehicles. Visitors who arrive by car must utilize parking garages located outside the ZTL or private garages that offer permit registration for their guests.

Taxis provide an alternative by dropping passengers at designated stands near the museum, as they possess authorization to enter the restricted areas. Using a taxi allows visitors to reach the gallery directly from the airport or peripheral hotels.
